Blue Jasmine is a comedy-drama film written and directed by Woody Allen and starring Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, and Sally Hawkins. It was released on July 26, 2013.
Janette, who eventually changed her name to Jasmine (Cate Blanchett), is bankrupt after the suicide of her wealthy husband, a less-than-honest financier named Hal Francis (Alec Baldwin). Devastated and having suffered a nervous breakdown that caused her to talk to herself in the streets, she must move from New York to San Francisco and live with her sister Ginger (Sally Hawkins).
Cate Blanchett’s performance as Jasmine earned her a second Oscar, following her 2004 win for portraying Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Aviator’.
