Charlotte Gray

Charlotte Gray (2001)

Cate Blanchett reunites with director Gillian Armstrong, with whom she previously worked on the 1997 film Oscar and Lucinda.

This time, Blanchett plays Charlotte Gray, a young woman during World War II in 1943, who is recruited by the British government to join a local resistance group using guerrilla tactics against the occupying German army.

Initially, Charlotte Gray’s intention in joining the group is to search for her suitor Peter (Penry Jones), an English pilot whose plane crashed and who is presumed dead.

But Charlotte later becomes involved with the resistance group led by Julian Levade (Billy Crudup).
