Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle. The film features the voices of iconic actors such as Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, and Benedict Cumberbatch. Andy Serkis directs, and he also performs as Baloo using motion capture, as he did with Gollum (The Lord of the Rings) and Caesa (Planet of the Apes).
It tells the story of Mowgli’s upbringing, raised by a pack of wolves in the jungles of India. As he learns the often complicated rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli comes to be accepted by the jungle animals as one of their own.
By all except one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. But greater dangers may be lurking in the jungle when Mowgli confronts his human origins.
According to its director, this is a “darker version, much closer to Rudyard Kipling’s book and its tone.” The very generous trailer reveals a wilder, more violent, and brutal atmosphere.
