Petal dies, and Quoyle, who still loves her, moves to the family home in Newfoundland, which has been abandoned for 44 years, accompanied by his aunt Agnis (Judi Dench). Agnis initially agrees to stay a few more days to help Quoyle cope with his recent grief over Petal’s death, but later convinces him to move to Newfoundland with her.
